With Nuna6, the World Solar Challenge 2011 was completed in 33 hours and 50 minutes. That is an average speed of 88.60 kilometers per hour. This won us a silver medal.
The weight of Nuna6 is so far the lightest of all Nuna's with 145 kilograms. That is about 15 kilograms lighter than its predecessor! In addition, the car had a 10% lower resistance than Nuna5. A special adaptation with respect to the existing solar cars was the use of a new carbon fabric that is also used in Formula 1. This also helped to make the less weight. This Nuna also had an on-board computer for the first time with which all the electronics in the car could be regulated. This not only resulted in a less weight, it also ensured a more efficient electronic system.
